And all while GOP elected officials deny there is a spoon… er, war.For the record, the president of the United States is now simultaneously claiming that he has won the war, is currently winning the war, needs help to win the war, and needs no help to win the war. All to destroy the nuclear program he claims to have already destroyed last year.

Baldwin: We were not under any imminent attack from Iran—that’s the only thing that would have given this president the authority to act without congressional authorization or debate.SNAFU.
And his reasoning—well, if you can call it that—has shifted constantly. At first, he said we’d act militarily to support protesters standing up against the Iranian regime because the economy is bad. A couple of weeks later, he said it was to stop their ballistic missile program. A few weeks after that, he mentioned the nuclear program. And then he started talking about regime change. His reasoning changes hour by hour, minute by minute. There are clearly no plans for an exit strategy, no foresight of the foreseeable outcomes of his actions—and it’s costing American lives.

Kaine: Chris asked Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Senator Jim Risch: ‘When are we going to have a public hearing about this war? When?’FUBAR.
Senator Risch responded: ‘I have decided that we will not have public hearings because I do not believe the administration’s decision-makers should be subject to public questioning by senators.’
I mean, can you believe that? I give him credit—I’ll give him credit for candor—but they do not believe that civilian decision-makers should be subject to questions by United States senators. If they were secure in the justness of their cause or the adequacy of their plan, they would not be afraid to answer public questions about what they’re doing.

Duckworth: Donald Trump, through his war of choice, is not making America greater. It’s not making America stronger. In fact, it’s weakening our national security. He’s blowing through our weapons stockpiles. He is leaving our allies and American interests vulnerable across the globe.
So this is about the war, but it’s also about the fact that when the commander in chief of the United States makes these decisions, it’s supposed to be with Congress and in America’s best national interest. And in fact, he has made us more vulnerable. He has expended precious resources, and he has no idea what his next step is or how this is going to end.
He put incompetent people in charge, and you get the result we have right now.
You mean “an equal ally” like this?Meanwhile, over at the @nytimes… 🤔
