It's across the river from St. Louis, in southern Illinois. An ancient mound city built on plains just beyond the reach of the river. Surrounded by a massive timber stockade. All built with just human labor, abandoned (IIRC) before Colombus. The largest mounds (big enough to farm and live on) persist. Of course, You can probably read about it at the link. There is far more to American history than the Founding Fathers and Abraham Lincoln. If nothing else, you can learn to attribute humanity to people whose existence your culture ignored.Cahokia: North America's massive, ancient city https://t.co/vvRGnjkKNy pic.twitter.com/pOoHyrdVdM— Big Think (@bigthink) March 30, 2019
