I never agreed with Bill Kristol (or thought much of his arguments), but politics makes strange bedfellows, and I find myself sympathetic to him here. When Trump finally disappears Mr. Kristol and I will part company, but for now Trump is making us almost fellow travelers. To read Bill Barr's speeches is to see conservative arguments once made with some complexity made crudely; and to see conservative arguments that once usefully challenged progressive legal orthodoxy now used to uphold an increasingly authoritarian variant of conservatism.— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) November 16, 2019
Maybe Americans will be unified after all! And over politics! Well, after all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And maybe we can all learn a lesson about extremes and rigidity.
