Civil Discovery: An Object Lesson


Miller made the admission while testifying on May 30 in Washington D.C. in connection to his lawsuit against the digital media company Gizmodo — a case that is being litigated in Southern Florida’s District Court. Despite Miller’s counsel calling for a protective order to make the deposition confidential, a redacted version was made public on July 11.
Miller sued Gizmodo for defamation over a story he got a strip club dancer pregnant and tried to give her a "morning after" pill.

Full disclosure:  I represented a strip club dancer in a child custody action.  She was actually a very nice person, but as you can imagine, that kind of profession doesn't go over well with the judge in a custody battle.  My sympathies, in other words, are with the dancer.

Civil suits never work out the way the parties to them think they will.
