For another, it doesn't have bishops with the power to deny an individual access to communion.
This is what happens when religious terms wander into the civic sphere.
I remember when "anathema" entered the recognition vocabulary of the college credentialed and those who wanted people to think they were. I used to notice that there were words that you'd see in one of the NYC based magazines and a few weeks later you'd see it more than you'd seen it in your entire previous life in other NYC based magazines.
