Noem did not specify the so-called "identified foreign terrorist organizations" that she claimed are involved in the protests that have erupted in Los Angeles in recent days in response to raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in which 118 immigrants were arrested last week.
Oh, no, that's not the fun part:
The secretary indicated in her letter to Hegseth that she would send a formal request in the coming days. She also called for "the transportation of munitions" from Fort Benning and Wyoming, but did not say what the weapons would be used for.
I really want to see what happens when military forces fire on unarmed civilians. No, I don't long for this to happen. But if it does, Trump can kiss his presidency good-bye. The number of people who would accept a repeat of Kent State, today, is vanishingly small.
In 1970, the students were seen as the instigators. Try as Trump might, few people are going to hold people in the street accountable for getting in the way of bullets fired from military rifles. I don't want to see that. But if these people are this out of control, there will be consquences.
