The Stupid, It Burns

I’ve driven from St. Louis to Chicago, more than once. Actually, I’ve done the trip three times, from Houston to Chicago, via St. Louis. By far the longest, dullest, emptiest stretch, is from St. Louis to Chicago.

I’ve driven across Texas to Denver, through both New Mexico and Oklahoma (different trips) and saw more people between cities (check the map) than in Illinois south of the Chicago area. Miles and miles of miles and miles. Emptier of human habitation than Trump’s mind is of content.

Corn fields don’t need towns in them, either. Lived in one of those towns, in the southern tip of Illinois. Lots of corn; maybe 100 people. Maybe not that many. Nice people. But not enough to change the representation in Congress.
