I Was Kidding About The Bulletproof Stained Glass

Can churches use the money to put up fences with barbed wire, and armed guards to patrol the perimeter,
‘Cause nothing says “welcome” like guard towers and gates you can’t enter without ID and your name on the list.

You know, like a maximum security prison. Or a high security government facility.

I’ve read that the government in France is afraid of the people, after the lesson of the Revolution. I think that’s a gross exaggeration; but our government is clearly afraid of the people, and sees its only recourse is in hiding behind barricades and men with guns. See, e.g., current conditions in the nation’s capital.

  1. I'd look to see how well that protected the Russian elites before 1917, and those guys could rely on the rabble having far fewer weapons with far less capacity to kill at a distance than are available today, thanks to the wonders of science and technology.
They are psychotics peddling As Seen On TV irreality to a nation trained to mistake irreality for reality by TV and other entertainment. Eventually that will start to impact on them, Democrats in Congress found that out almost four years and eight months ago, Republicans did too, very briefly.
I hope that very soon the oligarchs experience what they've created for the rest of us, it's not going to change until they and what they care about feel it. That insurance gangster getting killed last December made an awful big splash in the media, especially when it became clear the killer was considered a hero by so many. My guess is that it will take at least as many such incidents before something effective is done to stop it and them trying to live lives behind security barriers and armed thugs they hire won't do it. Though I'm sure they'll kid themselves it does, for a while.

America will reap the whirlwind. It is, already.
