I guess?Huh? Talk about a “big if true” (narrator: it’s not true) — this has to be A.I. slop, can’t be a serious take from the Sec. Of Treasury? https://t.co/39DbSZiX5H

Oh, it’s cattle xenophobia. Because everyone knows foreigners and their animals have exotic diseases. 🙄Scott Bessent says the reason beef prices are so high is because immigrants from South America are bringing their cattle with them as they come here and they are infected with diseases.

What a weird take! pic.twitter.com/yLrfilagV7
The number of beef cows in the US is the lowest it has been since 1949. This means fewer cattle in the feedlots and packing plants and more expensive meat in the store (as an aside, I remember when capitalism was said to be based on supply and demand, not how well you bribed the President of the United States).
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons why we talk about no longer: droughts made worse by climate change meant cows had to be sold because there wasn't enough feed. Another reason is: farmers/ranchers are getting older, and instead of keeping young females to become cows they are cashing in while the market is hot and selling them to become steaks, etc.
The Trump commitment to corruption is second only to the administration-wide commitment to bashing immigrants. Yes, there is a nasty cattle disease south of the border we should hope never gets here. But if it does, it isn't going to be because some poor non-white people brought the family cow across the border, it's going to be because an American farmer, rancher, or packing plant bought sick cattle and smuggled them over hoping to profit.
racism makes people stupid, stupid people are racists... chickens and eggs I guess
It is literally unfathomable how stupid and inept the people in this Administration are. This is all Trump redux. The depth of their stupidity, ignorance, and incompetence cannot be plumbed. That hole is bottomless.
