Did Anybody Get The Number Of That Truck?

Trump to Republican senators: "I thought we'd have a discussion after the press leaves about what last night represented and what we should do about it and also about the shutdown and how that relates to last night. If you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor, negative for Republicans. They say that I wasn't on the ballot wasn't the biggest factor. I don't know about that, but I was honored that they said that."
Now, simply separate that into two ideas, and see if either one makes sense.

The shutdown was a big factor. Which means voters skunked the GOP in every race yesterday because they blame the GOP for the shutdown, even though no race on any ballot had to do with a federal office. (The only one I know of is the special to fill Sylvester Turner’s seat in the House. That district is in Houston, and it’s now in s runoff between two Democrats. So nothing (much) to see there.)

And that doesn’t say something to Trump? Of course it doesn’t, because he wasn’t on the ballot. But he’s honored by the analysts who say that wasn’t the biggest factor.

That would be because the biggest factor was Trump’s policies, which voters rejected by proxy, by rejecting Republicans.

But since Trump wasn’t on the ballot, he takes this loss as not directed at him; because, of course he does. He’s missing one thing, though: he’ll never be on the ballot again. So he’s whistling bravely past the electoral graveyard. ๐Ÿชฆ

Trump’s  administration is supposed to be working on ending voting and killing voting for all time so they can establish a permanent authoritarian regime. How’s that working out for them?
That’s the road to recovery, right there!
