How should we then live?

Look at the news at any point in time, and what does it tell you? What lessons do you draw from it? How do you explain it's meaning, and how to respond to it?

But approach the news, or your daily life, from a different perspective, with a different goal in mind; reconsider the starting point. Reconsider the reach of your responsibility, the goal of all your activity.

"Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime; therefore we must be saved by hope. Nothing which is true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore we must be saved by faith. Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; therefore we must be saved by love. No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as it is from our standpoint. Therefore we must be saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness."

--Reinhold Niebuhr

Read the news, and despair? Or consider the world, and reconsider? My goal is less to be able to take those words completely to heart, than to be in a state of being where I am able to produce such words from my heart.
