Trump wanted to ‘neutralize' the presidential chain of succession by seizing power at the Capitol: expert https://t.co/UZo14TXIaV

"That's also why Trump wanted the, you know, weapons detectors removed, and so the other thing that stands out is that not only did he want to be driven there to the Capitol and be at the head of this, you know, violent thug march into the Capitol, but Ms. Hutchinson testified that there were conversations about him entering the chamber," she continued. "And what that says to me is first, you know, you've neutralized the presidential chain of succession. They were going to do something to Pence, they were hunting Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi, speaker, and so he was going to also have fixed the problem with the electoral counts because Pence wasn't there, and then he was going to declare himself at the head of this violent mob in the chamber as a legitimate president, and that's where that phase of the coup would have ended."That’s where the entire coup would have ended. Because unless the entire Congress and Biden and the courts went along with it, Trump would still not be President. Chasing Pence and Pelosi out of the building and declaring “I won! I won!” in the well of the House is not exactly contemplated by the laws or the Constitution.
Though I dare say it would get the attention of the FBI.
(“Neutralizing the chain of succession” is a meaningless phrase when the power to neutralize the other two branches of government was never present. Trump declared himself the “true victor” many times; doing it in the well of the House wouldn’t make it any more true, or Constitutional. He had no authority, and he had no power to back his play. He couldn’t dissolve Congress or keep them from reconvening that day or the next, or whenever they needed to. He couldn’t stop the Constitutional process, and he never controlled enough of the government to bend it to his will. The whole thing was a balls up by children playing at governing.
I would honestly expect an “expert” to understand that.)
