Peace be with you all! This is the first greeting spoken by the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd. I would like this greeting of peace to resound in your hearts, in your families, and among all people, wherever they may be, in every nation and throughout the world.

There is so much violence and so many wars in our world! Amid this horror that should provoke outrage—as people die in the name of military conquest—stands the call of Christ, who repeats: ‘Peace be with you!’

Christ's peace is not the silence of the tomb after a conflict, and it is not the result of subjugation. Peace is a gift that gazes at others and renews their lives. Let us pray for this peace, which is reconciliation, forgiveness, and courage to turn the page and start again.

The Holy See is willing to help enemies meet, so they may look each other in the eye and so people may be given back the dignity they deserve: the dignity of peace. With heart in hand, I say to the leaders of nations: let us meet; let us dialogue; let us negotiate!

War is never inevitable. Weapons can and must fall silent, for they never solve problems but only intensify them. Those who sow peace will endure throughout history, not those who reap victims. Others are not enemies to hate but human beings with whom to speak.

#Peace is built in the heart and from the heart, by eliminating pride and vindictiveness. Let us carefully choose our words, for words too, not only weapons, can wound and even kill.

Working for peace requires acting justly. Every effort should be made to overcome global inequalities, which allow opulence and destitution to carve deep divides between continents, countries, and even within individual societies.

Peace cannot be built apart from #Truth, which we Christians believe is not the affirmation of abstract principles but an encounter with Christ. Truth enables us to confront the challenges of migration, the ethical use of artificial intelligence, and the protection of the Earth.

I skipped over these two, until I realized they weren’t the obscure references I took them for.The Jubilee is a time of conversion and renewal, an opportunity to embark on a new path, animated by the hope that we can build a world in which everyone can lead an authentically human life in truth, justice and peace. https://t.co/nIO0mkxv4e

Over a century ago, Pope Leo XIII noted that "the preservation of the Eastern rites is more important than is realized." Let us embrace the appeal to safeguard and promote the Christian East, especially in the diaspora. https://t.co/9uiYDTismI

"...keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge of the love of God, and of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior; and the blessings of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you, always.”The ancient, yet ever new spiritualities of the Christian East offer a healing balm. They merge an awareness of human misery with awe for divine mercy, so that our lowliness never leads to despair but invites us to welcome grace.

I have to confess I'm loving how having this Black American Pope is freaking out the lies of Steve Bannon and Roger Stone and a not inconsiderable part of the "trad-catholic" cult. And all he is doing is paraphrasing the Gospel and Epistles, the Law and the Prophets.
