Easter on the half-shell

I'm just surprised he didn't make Melania wear a bonnet....

Because, you know, it's Easter:

“If they’re not going to help us at the border, it’s a very sad thing. Mexico has got help us at the border. And a lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of DACA. And we’re going to have to really see,” the president said.

“They had a great chance, the Democrats blew it,” he added. “They had a great, great chance. But we’ll have to take a look. But Mexico has got to help us at the border. They flow right through Mexico. They send them into the United States. Can’t happen that way anymore.”

Can't happen that way now:

To be eligible for DACA, one must have continuously resided in the U.S. since June 15, 2007.

Let me put that more specifically:

You may request DACA if you:
Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012;
Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007, up to the present time;
Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
Had no lawful status on June 15, 2012;
Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States; and
Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor,or three or more other misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.
Age Guidelines
Anyone requesting DACA must have been under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012. You must also be at least 15 years or older to request DACA....

That's from the official website for the Department of Homeland Security.  You know, the department overseen by the President of the United States.  Nominally, anyway.  Oh, one other point, from DHS:

Due to federal court orders, USCIS has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA. USCIS is not accepting requests from individuals who have never before been granted deferred action under DACA.
So there is nothing in the President's statement that conforms to any reality the rest of the country lives in.  As for the Democrats bearing the blame:

Congressional negotiations over DACA have stalled. The Trump administration last month pitched a deal to extend it for two-and-a-half years in exchange for $25 billion to construct the president’s border wall, but Democrats refused. The White House similarly refused a Democratic counteroffer to fund construction of the wall in exchange for a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million Dreamers.
I suppose if the man ever attended church enough to know it isn't "Two Corinthians," he might hear something like this:

21 You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. 22 You shall not abuse any widow or orphan. 23 If you do abuse them, when they cry out to me, I will surely heed their cry; 24 my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children orphans.

Or this:

You shall not spread a false report.

Or this:

 You shall not oppress a resident alien; you know the heart of an alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

Nah, that's expecting too much.  If he heard it, he wouldn't apply it, or think it applied to him.  He who has ears had better listen; but too often, he won't.

  1. I can just hear him tweeting, "“Look, the "hispanic" people are more numerous and more powerful than we. Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, or they will increase and, in the event of war, join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.”

    Our Pharaonic Phool.

  2. TPM says he was repeating the head of the Border Patrol Union on F&F this morning. Which makes two idiots in government egging each other on. So much easier than being actually informed.
