In today’s political environment, it is not a wisely chosen word, especially when some who use it feel obliged to say: “What I really mean is...”

The country seems very intersted in a conversation, especially about the police.  And the word "defund" seems to have started a valid aspect of that conversation, especially since "decrease the funding" is subject to the same objection, and sounds more like a discussion among budget wonks.

Which, I'm sorry, is BOOOOORRRRRRRINNNGG!
