Wait a minute. The Secret Service asked the mayor of Tulsa to put a curfew in place for the next two nights. The mayor complies. And the president* demands the city call it off?— Charles P. Pierce (@CharlesPPierce) June 19, 2020
1) The mayor should’ve told the president* to stuff it.
2) He wants a riot. He’s begging for one.
Amanda Marcotte reminds us the schadenfreude fest is not just for the Tulsa FacePlant (make it happen!) which was so embarassing, but for what else Trump wanted out of it.
Any protesters, anarchists, agitators, looters or lowlifes who are going to Oklahoma please understand, you will not be treated like you have been in New York, Seattle, or Minneapolis. It will be a much different scene!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 19, 2020
At the end of "The Dark Knight" the Joker has done everything he can to inflame the people of Gotham and make them turn on each other; but he fails. The Joker wanted it for his purposes of chaos; Trump still thinks chaos wins elections.
In that scene, Trump is the Joker, and Batman is all of the rest of us in America who weren't in the BOC Saturday night, or even on the streets of Tulsa:
We won, he lost. QED.
