Which Civilians??

In red states? Or blue states? When and where will they protest? Because Trump loses? Will Trump send the military then? Because the count is not final by midnight?

I get it; Trump is being outrageous. Is he going to do anything? No. Who’s going to protest? Twitter? Facebook? Trump can refuse the electoral outcome all he wants, it doesn't matter to the electoral college, the law, or the Constitution. But he’s not sending out troops by midnight Nov. 3. Not even if he wanted to could he pull that off. He doesn’t have the authority under the Insurrection Act. He wouldn’t even have the support of the military. And he will disperse them where? From where? This isn’t a TV show where everything happens within 30 minutes.  Even if there are protests on Election night, until they last long enough and are large enough to even be considered a threat to civil order, Trump can’t do anything.

This whole scenario is farcical.  Because it starts with Trump.

  1. I agree it's unlikely that any violence by Trump cultists will be widespread but I think it's far more likely there might be some and if Trump thinks he can get put back in by c. 2000 Bush Family antics with guns, he'll go there. I don't have any doubt that he'd do that if he thought it would get him what he wanted.Them getting away with it in 2000 was the prelude to Trump.

And now that they know they can get this far, without changing the mechanisms they use they'll go farther the next time.

  2. I really don't read the "Brooks Brothers riot" was all that successul (YMMV, of course), but more importantly 2020 would have to come down to one state, as 2000 did, for that to matter.

And frankly, Bush DID organize the "BBR." That's how they even got into the building. Guys with guns bring out the police, and I think guys with guns yelling about Trump would just legitimate Biden's victory. Especially if Trump is cheering for them.

Most of the country would say "yeah, we don't do elections that way."
