Rick Perry argues ‘Texas is not a battleground state’ — after Dallas Morning News poll shows Biden leading https://t.co/kmjYjTrfhF

...Perry argued it was a “pipedream” that Democrats are competitive and argued Texas will remain “a very red state.”
That's only part of it.After a generation under unified Republican control, Texas is a battleground at every level of government this year.

The Valley has been slammed by covid.A test of Biden‘s confidence/how haunted they are by 2016:

if the early vote does not pick up this week in the Rio Grande Valley, do they send Biden down on the final weekend to appeal to fellow Catholics?
Hillary took all the border counties of Texas without even visiting here. A visit wouldn't be a bad thing, but Biden doesn't have much to worry about down there. They live on the border Trump reviles. What do you think they want to do about it?NO. Don't go. Covid hot spot. https://t.co/AXp6mD9NMx

NEW: Federal disaster teams are now also heading for El Paso this week to deal with the surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations. This comes as Gov. Abbott has announced the state is converting the convention center into expanded hospital space. More here:https://t.co/VcR7Ol2YZB

Oh, and voter turnout in Texas as of yesterday as at 42.4%, or 7.2 million voters. There's a week of early voting to go. I'm not sure who's going to be left to vote on November 3rd, but I can't imagine the majority of those 7.2 million have been waiting anxiously to register (registration is at an all time high) and vote to re-elect Donald Trump. After a generation under unified Republican control, Texas is a battleground at every level of government this year.

How many polls this year have shown @realDonaldTrump at 50% or above in Texas? That's the biggest sign of trouble for him.

*for those of you unclear about the geography, El Paso is about 700 miles west of the Valley. It's a long border. Will Hurd held a House seat on a long stretch of it because he was more a moderate Democrat than he was a Republican. The vote down there is not going for Trump, and it isn't staying home because Biden didn't drop by. IMHO, anyway (though a visit never hurts).
