Let us recall that in the regular session just passed, these things did NOT happen:I think Texas made a mistake in allowing the novel coronavirus to write its protocols for public schools. https://t.co/O1xoaTkrtq

A second special session starts Saturday:I think Texas made a mistake in allowing the novel coronavirus to write its protocols for public schools.
Some of the pandemic-related proposals that didn't make it out of this #TXlege session would have:
— Texas Tribune (@TexasTribune) June 3, 2021
—Updated the state's immunization registry
—Created an emergency mass vaccination and distribution plan
—Funded research into health inequity issues https://t.co/wVk2KUfjwb
The only item on the agenda related to COVID is distribution of the federal funds allocated to Texas for COVID relief. As for school immunizations:NEW: @GovAbbott announces he'll call a second special session of the Texas Legislature starting at noon on Saturday, the day after the current one ends. 17-item agenda newly includes COVID relief appropriations & "legislation relating to legislative quorum requirements." #txlege pic.twitter.com/11B9AKG7BR

Subject to Subsection (c), the Department of State Health Services may modify or delete any of the immunizations in Subsection (a) or may require immunizations against additional diseases as a requirement for admission to any elementary or secondary school.(b-1) Each year, the Department of State Health Services shall prepare a list of the immunizations required under this section for admission to public schools and of any additional immunizations the department recommends for school-age children. The department shall prepare the list in English and Spanish and make the list available in a manner that permits a school district to easily post the list on the district's Internet website as required by Section 38.019.
The Department of State Health Services has declined to add the vaccine for covid-19 as a requirement for admission to any elementary or secondary school because Texas parents should not have a choice about immunizing their children against polio, diptheria/tetanus/pertussis, measles/mumps/rubella, Hepatitis A or B, Meningococaal, or Varicella, but should be free to expose their children to covid-19. Because freedumb.
Now, gee, why did the Department of State Health Services decide the covid-19 vaccine shouldn’t be required? I'm sure it's for the health of the children who have no voice, right?
I used to be impressed on how many of the great fetishists of "freedom, liberty, 'rugged individualism'" were the greatest fans of fascism, especially for People of Color and others than themselves, now I'm impressed with how many of them are insane death fetishists, including the majority on the U.S. Supreme Court. A lot of people have been impressed with how many of them are "pro-life" at the same time they are pro-death, now many of the same fetishist of freedom are opposed to Womens' rights to choose what to do with their bodies. It's almost like those devoted to "all men are created equal" who were, as well, enthusiastic about slavery. In fact, that's how this has all been so empowered. Racism, always an economic sin as well, is our original sin and we'll go through hell before it is cooked out of us.
