As I understand it, the blue check verification was started because some users were mistaken for other prominent persons, and sued Twitter to solve the problem (harassment of people with the same name as famous people is a thing).NEW: Twitter is planning to start charging $20 a month for verification. We are going to have to reckon with childish men for a long time. Not because they are powerful because of their immaturity (I truly don’t care what happens to Twitter, and the national economy doesn’t rest on Tesla), but because of the example they set.
