That question of votes could shift again, but no matter. Failing to convict may yet be a problem in 2 years. Trump is never going to be a political force. He holds rallies so he can get people to chant “Lock her up!” Which got to be so empty a phrase even Mark Joseph Stern didn’t worry about it. Can he even manage rallies now, without a campaign staff or White House staff? He’ll have to pay for it, and he doesn’t want to do that. I understand he has $70 million in campaign funds, a fearsome war chest. Except Trump needs money, and he hates to spend it on other people.There’s also the fact that threatening a third party while simultaneously threatening primaries makes no sense, which some folks gently pointed out to him.

Will he really come off the golf course to campaign against anybody? Spending his own money? In 2 years? Are you kidding?
The 2024 run as the 3rd party were merely floated as possible means of getting money out of the same suckers he suckered into giving him mountains of money after he lost to Joe Biden.
