Justices regularly accept lavish gifts, lodging, etc. – sometimes involving people with interests before the Court. NYT reports influencers saw FedSoc justices Alito, Thomas, and Scalia as most susceptible; Scalia took literally dozens of trips — undisclosed! Why? Mystery.

John Roberts isn’t even first among equals. He can assign majority opinion writing, and that’s all. They all have life tenure and no Justice has ever been removed from the bench (except by death or resignation). 

Alito could confess to leaking the Hobby Lobby decision and the Dobbs decision and Roberts could do fuck-all about it (nor would the new GOP majority impeach him). Why do you think Scalia took so many free trips (and died on one, though nobody really cared)? They have absolute privilege and absolute impunity. What’re you gonna do about it?
