They believe that they will be star witnesses for Trump’s defense, and say it may be possible that Jack Smith even drops charges after he sees their “evidence.” My latest with clip of interview. https://t.co/jTnajvNEZQ

Trump's lawyer John Lauro went on a media tour of 5 major Sunday shows this past weekend and announced that he was going to seek to re-litigate the various conspiracies and allegations that there was widespread fraud in the election. Lauro says this is necessary to show that Trump had a good-faith belief that the election was stolen, justifying the actions he took to pressure Pence to refuse to count electoral votes.
The problem with this entire theory of the defense is that the only conceivably relevant testimony would only be things Trump knew BEFORE he engaged in the conduct charged in the indictment. In other words, anything he found out after the fact about the election from various conspiracy theorists is irrelevant and inadmissible for this theory of the defense.Wait; it gets better.
Phillips and Englebrecht went on Steve Bannon's podcast on Monday and lobbied to be called as witnesses to present their "evidence" to the jury in the J6 case. Bannon said that Trump's defense would be calling witnesses for "8 months to a year" every day to air all the conspiracies of why the election was stolen, and that the Mules producers would be on the stand for at least "2 or 3 weeks."
Of course, Steve Bannon tried to do something similar in his trial for contempt of Congress, but the trial judge disallowed the testimony on collateral issues as irrelevant. That is the subject of Bannon's appeal which is currently pending. This is where I point out none of the people mentioned here are lawyers; and Ron Filipkowski, who wrote this, is. “8 months to a year”? Bannon is a clown.
Engelbrecht said they both "look forward to the opportunity to tell the full story of what happened ... They are about to get a big eyeful." Phillips then suggested that Jack Smith may even drop the charges against Trump after he sees all their "evidence."

Good luck with that.
These people will never see the witness stand.Exactly.
ntodd:
It's precisely this type of crazy that spurred my question yesterday. I had a guy tell me at one point that Judge Chutkan "can't ignore" proof of the fraud that Trump's mighty subpoenas will bring to the court. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she can and thus, so will the jury.
Trump might as well call Mike Lindell as a witness.
