Almost as strong as his first amendment defense. This is a Tom Fitton argument that really has nothing to do with the jury pool. Best I can figure is Trump wants to eliminate home rule in D,C. and…remove all the people who would be on his jury? It really doesn’t make sense as a change of venue argument, or a D.C. government argument; or really as anything.Trump lets the prosecution know the spurious grounds for his eventual change of venue motion. Lauro closed on MTP alleging that protective order sought by the DOJ (pretty much SOP, from what I understand), was trying to keep exculpatory information from the American people and the press. He urged the press to petition the court for the information.
Good way to piss off the judge and tell the prosecution what your strategy is. Godawful lawyering, though. The judge may want to tell Trump and his lawyer to watch their ass.
