Clear And Present Danger

"I think the most excitement Donald Trump saw in this proceeding was when his lawyer said that he was winning in the polls," the NBC News reporter explained. "That was something that he liked."
He said that much of the legal citations and court case history that the lawyers discussed seemed to confuse the former president, who once called himself a "very stable genius" and "like, a really smart person."
"But it seemed to be arguments that went over Donald Trump's head, and he liked the political moments," said Reilly. "He started shaking his head. I'm winning in all the polls! He got a little bit more animated and — it seemed like — I interpreted his lawyer ended up slipping in some arguments on rebuttal that Donald Trump wanted him to make because he was passing notes back and forth."
Reilly also noted that outside the courthouse, there weren't any crowds ready to cheer him on. Instead, all he saw was one, lone man with a flag.
Let the reader understand.
