Three Times Is Enemy Action

Do these judges think they know the law, or something?

Multiple staffers across the judiciary, including federal judges, received the DOGE message on Saturday, sources told TPM. The message was sent from an Office of Personnel Management email address.

In response, the judiciary’s Administrative Office sent a message addressed to all staff titled “OPM Email about Accomplishments.”

That message acknowledged that “some judges and judiciary staff” received the DOGE message, and told staffers that “we suggest that no action be taken.”

“We will be communicating with OPM about this email,” the message reads.
Yes, this is the second time DOGE has messed with federal judges, proving they are using a blunderbuss rather than a scalpel, moving fast and trying to break things that aren’t willing to be broken. It puts me in mind of Ian Fleming’s dictum: “Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.”
TPM exclusively reported this month that Trump executive orders and DOGE’s efforts to haphazardly slash away at the federal government had begun to impact the court system; judicial officials told staff that executive branch agencies were looking into terminating some judicial facility leases, and that the officials were trying to stem the damage to the judiciary of what was happening in the executive branch.
So this could be the third time.

You really don’t want to make enemies of federal judges.

Department of Defense official Darin Selnick on Sunday sent out a message to personnel emphasizing that the DoD, not Musk, "is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures."

The message also instructed workers to "please pause any response to the [Office of Personnel and Management] email titled 'What did you do last week.'"
