Pope Leo XIV delivered the homily during mass at the Sistine Chapel today after being elected the 267th pope of the Catholic Church.

He had two women reading scripture at the service.

Pope Leo XIV pointed out “the neglect of mercy, violations of human dignity in the most dramatic manners” in his first mass today as the new pope.

A Cardinal says that Pope Leo XIV was effective at speaking with small groups during the papal conclave at meals and coffee breaks.

He said that the new Pope didn't make a grand speech to win voters and that he got a chance to speak with him:

Trump will be POTUS for only the remainder of his four year term. Pope Leo XIV may well be Pope for 20 years. And every Christian should be a counterweight to Donald Trump. That’s call to discipleship.
