Well, Non-White Immigrants….

I remember the days of “dog whistles.” I almost miss those days.

Speaking of foreigners:
It seems Trump is determined to play Neville Chamberlain in the 21st century by giving land to Russia over which he has no authority.

Not to mention, if Russia is about to take Donetsk, why negotiate for it? Maybe because Putin can’t make any more gains after so long, and he needs the concession before he’s forced to admit failure? The real question is: will Europe respect Trump as Chamberlain’s equal? It will they finally decide the clown show should close out of town?

Trump is not planning a quiet sunset," Wilson wrote. "He is planning a siege."

The president appears to be laying the groundwork for this siege by appointing people who challenged the legitimacy of the 2020 election to key posts within the federal government.

One such individual is Heather Honey, Trump's deputy assistant secretary for election integrity at the Department of Homeland Security. Honey worked for a state anti-voting group in Pennsylvania and continues to spread the debunked theory that Trump lost the 2020 election because of widespread voter fraud, according to Democracy Docket.

"Trump is already aiming the federal machine at the midterms...If you think a lame duck can’t cause chaos, you didn’t learn the lesson of 2020," Wilson wrote. The lame-duck period then gave Trump and his allies space to organize a coup attempt...Now imagine that same playbook with four years of institutional capture, a more radical staff, and a president who knows he can’t be reelected and doesn’t care who he burns."

"Watch what happens in red state legislatures and courts when Trump calls on them to throw out the election results, or when Mike Johnson declines to seat newly elected members."
I think Rick, like Trump, U.S. struggling with his lame duck status. His Lincoln Project claimed Masters of the Universe (Silicon Valley version) authority under Trump I, and too credit for the 2018 midterms. And showed no such even presumed clout after that.

And now he thinks we’re going to get 2020 II, Electric Boogaloo.

Trump tried to screw with the electors and the state legislatures in 2020. Fake electors still face criminal charges/investigations, and the legislatures (in Texas, Abbott would have to call a special session in December. I think even some Republicans would leave the state for a prolonged Xmas vacation) declined to get involved.

But now they’re going to undo general elections (state, local, and federal are all on the same ballot) to give Trump the Congress he demands?

Yeah, right.

You can’t undo all those races without undoing all those ballots, which could include re-elected/newly elected state legislators. Sure, they’ll throw their careers away for Trump, and throw their state governments into chaos. And since the Constitution doesn’t allow for a “do over” or a “try again” Election Day for federal offices, well…what then? It wouldn’t be a “Constitutional Crisis,” it would be “Total Thermonuclear War.” On the Constitution, and on each state’s election laws. Among only one or two (at best) red states.  This is so crazy it just might work!🤪

I mean, that’s the ultimate “we go all, or we go not at all,” scenario. It would be the “all volunteers take one step forward,” and every state but the “sucker” would take one step back. Now all you’re doing is fucking that state’s elections, from the ground up. Which state would actually go through with that, all alone?

Aside from the fact Congressional races don’t go through the choke point of the Electoral College (the results, IOW, are not in anyway ratified by Congress. There’s a reason Congress is seated on January 1, and the President isn’t sworn in until January 20.), and the Constitution clearly leaves Congressional elections to the states. (The Electoral Count Act that led to Bush v Gore does not apply to Congressional elections.)

And courts are not “red state” courts bowing to Trump’s whims. If they did, federal courts would squash them for violating the Constitution (see above; and due process would not allow legislatures to change election laws to control election outcomes).

And finally, Mike Johnson refusing to seat new members? As of January 1, it’s a new Congress. He’d have to be re-elected Speaker, first.

I’ve watched political thrillers on Netflix that were less plausible. But those usually involve international conspiracies about fountain of youth, or some secret code written into the Constitution.

I mean, I kinda hope Trump is that stupid. It might seal his fate for an historic removal of. POTUS by impeachment.  But I find it hard to believe he really is.

Elmo, on the other hand, needs to go back to programming Grok to tell him what a gift to humanity he is.
