But He Couldn’t Be Saying That Because…?

I’m a lawyer and extensively trained in textual interpretation as well as the finer points of exegesis, and even I know “appears to be saying” is a bizarrely euphemistic and circumlocutory way of saying “I can’t say he said what he obviously said because I must represent ‘objectivity.’”

Whatever the hell that really is.
