There is no clever strategy here. Richer was always going to have to prove his case. Lake just made it easier for him to do. Now he doesn’t have to prove liability, only damages. And pretty much any evidence he presents on liability, in order to prove damages, can’t be challenged, except on the narrow issue of damages.
