An Illinois Judge…

...got in trouble for some of what I’ve said. Fortunately, I’m not as prominent a citizen.
“What I was really disgusted by yesterday is a couple of talking heads that sees this as an opportunity to say we're at war so that they could get some of our conservative followers lathered up over this. It seems like a cheap, disgusting, awful way to pretend like you're a leader of a conservative movement. And there were two in particular that I found particularly disgusting.”
I agree. But, as far as I can tell, that’s pretty much all I can see that Charlie Kirk ever did. He was sitting on a table with a sign that said “Debate Me” when he wa was shot. Apparently he used that schtick a lot. Except he wasn’t interested in debate. All he cared about was people who agreed with him, and about browbeating people who didn’t. He only wanted to “own the libs,” because, after all, they couldn’t be right. And anyone who disagreed with him, was a “lib.”

But that’s how Charlie Kirk pretended to be the leader of a conservative movement. By finding targets to denigrate, and belittle, and by bemoaning the fact he was born too late for the’50’s and ‘60’s,  which he imagined as a time when “men were men, and the women were glad of it.” And women were also in the kitchen, preferably barefoot and pregnant. I was born in the’50’s and raised in the’60’s;” it was nothing like that at all, although all the liberation movements (black women’s, Chicano, gay and lesbian, to name a few) certainly benefited us all. That’s what seemed to e the burr under Kirk’s saddle: that people other than white, straight men got equal rights. That’s what he wanted to reverse.

If you need further elucidation, Popehat has a bit of a thread on the subject. And there’s this:
I know Charlie Kirk valued debate and free speech because he blocked me for fact-checking his lies on Twitter and then put me on his organization's Professor Watchlist for writing a book he didn't like.
It’s not cheering his death to say he was wrong about practically everything. Including being the leader of any movement.
Pretty sure I’ve already said that, but he’ll, I’ve already said everything I have to say on this topic. I gotta leave social media alone until the subject changes.
