A U.S. Olympic skater almost missed an event because traffic was so backed up due to Vance’s motorcade.  She came in second. It’s possible she was badly rattled by fearing she wouldn’t arrive on time, and she’d be disqualified.

There’s a reason political leaders don’t belong at the Games, and it’s a very practical one. There’s also a reason political leaders should just congratulate the winners and simply praise sportsmanship. It’s a reason that goes all the way back to Hitler in 1936.
