It’s A Wonder Tall Trees Ain’t Layin’ Down

Still waiting for someone to frame this, this way (accurately, I mean): Or
Ossoff: Trump pardoned a man who helped the cartels make billions trafficking cocaine into the U.S. Trump freed him because he was Trump’s political ally and because he sent a four-page letter to Trump saying he was a better president than Biden. Maduro should’ve just sent Trump a check or sponsored the ballroom.

BTW, Maduro’s successor seems to have directed half a million to Trump’s inauguration. Someone should look into that.

The fact is, it pays to be friends with the president. It pays to kiss this president’s ass. And if you really need something, you can always just pay the president—whether you’re a sheikh, a felon, or a kingpin. There’s a buffet of corrupt options.
Not what Ossoff said, what Ossoff is reporting on. Follow the money. It’s what journalism is supposed to do, especially since Trump fired all the IG’s and chased off most of the DOJ lawyers. This is fine.😑
The Wall Street Journal alleges that the real motivation behind Trump’s eagerness to force Ukraine into an ugly surrender is the idea that a lot of people close to him can make a lot of money doing business and deals in Russia.

If this is true, beyond the disgusting morality of this and the huge geopolitical risks that it creates, none of these people salivating over their future riches are going to make a penny, and perhaps do a lot worse.

I was once the largest foreign investor in Russia and I can say with certainty that the Russians aren’t going to let anyone profit in any way. They will talk nice at the outset to attract the investment, but once it’s there, they will steal, defraud, arrest, torture or even kill to make sure that no American makes any money. I’ve seen it so many times it’s almost universal.

So, this shocking initiative is not only terrible policy, it’s spectacularly stupid business.
Old news. And yes, there are more wealthy people as stupid as Trump than you probably think. Hope.

  1. It does make a person wonder who- aside from Rupert Murdoch- owns the media in other countries.
