What that list doesn’t convey is how utterly weird this stuff is. So the past eliminated Lincoln but saved TR? And how was there a Republican Party, then?

And Trump has a cape? Or is his tie entirely too long?
Iran is Ayatollahs all the way down. Isn’t it ironic? Don’t you think? Or is Trump just an idiot and Netanyahu a sociopath? Like I said: utterly weird.

And we need more data centers for stuff like this, or China will control the Trump fantasy art market.

    His new mistress is certainly the one coming up with this crap for him, she's apparently at least minimally computer savvy - his "human printer" and all that. There is no way Trump is generating this stuff, he might degenerate it but he couldn't generate it. Though I'm sure she's showing it to him for his approval before she sends it out. I'm sure Melania is keeping up on her various contracts with Trump because she's smart enough to know they're coming into their time of execution very soon.

    Followup on a comment I made last week: was talking with someone who is reasonably knowledgeable about the whole data center thing, and they said the amount of data center capacity used for AI/crypto purposes is orders of magnitude larger than what's needed to store blogs or cat videos or even our various medical/financial records.

    So it might be as simple as it seems: because if our tech overlords- Musk, Zuckerberg, et al- want data center that in itself is a reason to be against them

      We’ve got crypto “mining” in Texas, which, I think, paved the way for the revolt against AI data centers here. If the centers are that beneficial to society, the Tech Bros are sure doing a lousy job of selling it.

      Yeah, the techbros can't seem to control themselves very well. I recently attended a data center presentation put on by our electric co-operative. Among the speakers was a twenty-something guy who is involved in small scale crypto mining and thinking of making a turn to AI.

      The first thing you notice is the egotism- the resentment that there should be any kind of rules. The second thing you notice is the longer they talk the wilder their talk gets- by the end he's telling us "you're going to wish you put rules on that we can't export AI because you are going to want that capacity available to be used right here in your county". He really should have stopped talking about five minutes sooner than he did.

      The electric co-op is very interested because a data center made up of only three or four shipping container-sized steel boxes would be their largest and steadiest customer. They badly need to spread their infrastructure cost out over more kilowatts. The techbros know this and I'm sure have the co-op talked into a very advantageous rate.
