Easter 2018: Later that Same Day

I have to admit the first image that comes to mind this morning is Jesus standing by an empty tomb shouting "APRIL FOOLS!" to the women who have come to the grave in the pre-dawn light.

Sorry, I can't seem to avoid it.  It's not the right tone of reverence for the joy the occasion should invoke, but it's the right tone of joy.  Christianity can be so dour, it needs notes of foolishness even on its most high holy days.

The confluence of the calendar and the holy day are just not something we can pretend isn't happening.  At least I didn't say anything about marking a paper heart with a cross made from ashes.....
