Trump yesterday followed a familiar pattern - morning speech that he wasn’t entirely comfortable with and then something soon after he thought would please his base (labeling China a currency manipulator). He has 2 Hamptons fundraisers Friday, where this move won’t be cheered. https://t.co/d2bRgLXbyy— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) August 6, 2019
Not just his gut, apparently.

What's that African proverb, "When elephants fight, the grass gets trampled." And the word from Isaiah: "All flesh is grass." Not quite what he meant, but it certainly applies here. This is the consequence of "I despise Trump, but I'm damned if I'll vote for Hillary." Not voting has consequences just as much as voting does. And who suffers those consequences?
