Trump is losing every attempt to block access to his tax records. His greatest fear seems to be disclosure of any financial information. When he realized these questions would be asked, and that he has no shield to extend over his business (as the New York tax case has proved), he simply withdrew. What he fears is exposure, and every attempt at concealment on that topic is failing. Why add to that pile?
