Then again, the AG has no legislative role in Texas. And the only reason we elect an Attorney General is to keep the governor from appointing one. Which seems like a bad idea left over from the 19th century Populist movement and Reconstruction; but have you seen the people Texas elects as Governor? Ann Richards is pretty much the exception that proves the rule.Among other things, Paxton (who's still under indictment) hasn't retracted his bogus claim that the rioters "weren't Trump supporters."
