One of the things that struck me from the anti-vax march in DC today was the appeal to violence. pic.twitter.com/wzXHlLbtgA

A kidnapper, whether he sells the person or the person is found in his possession, shall be put to death.
This is from the law of Moses; laws meant to organize and provide order (and identity) to the nation of Israel, the children of Abraham. It was not meant as a mandate to take matters into personal control and kill whomever you liked claiming the person dead was a kidnapper under this provision. This provision was meant to be a criminal statute, in modern parlance. If a state allows for the death penalty for a capital crime, it doesn't mean any resident of the state can kill another resident and claim the recently deceased was guilty of a capital crime and was going to die anyway.
Yes, these people are crazy; but this is why we have laws and systems of justice. Few of them actually go around shooting people, and when they do we call them "mass murderers" and worry about their 2nd Amendment rights.
I'm really not afraid of the loonies without power but who have a Marks-A-Lot and a piece of poster board. I'm worried about the loonies in power, who think inaction and blaming the Democrats for this, is the right response for society. Or just the right response for them, which really makes them no better than the sign carriers. But it does make them much more dangerous.
Behold the power of the internet;
Is it so? Well, doesn't tout le internet say democracy is in danger and nobody cares? Shouldn't that statistic be cheering? As for income falling behind the cost of living, hasn't that been going on since the '70's? Literally? The question is, will we do something about it? Or just blame the people in power, and then blame the new people 2 years from now? It’s the statistic that says people trust their employers more than the government that’s depressing. The employers are the ones in control of incomes, after.22/72. Damn. https://t.co/72h7PE0uSZ

Testing without enforceable quarantine or mandated closures of businesses/schools/public places, is a mug's game. I could be exposed to covid today, test "negative" tomorrow, and be spreading it before I show symptoms or test "positive." Vaccination as the path out of the pandemic was the path everyone was waiting for when vaccines came along. What was the "other path"? Shutdowns like those imposed in China? Quarantine of entire states? When the vaccine came, was a different path mandatory vaccinations for one and all, or severe quarantine for non-compliance? Granted, I'd have been fine with closing the borders to at least Florida and South Dakota.NEW – News that vaccinated people could still spread Delta was a “heart sink” moment that called into question Biden's focus on vaccination as the path out of the pandemic. Our dive into his covid response. https://t.co/CJGRuOA0Bs 1/8

As the Supreme Court recently pointed out (wrongly on the issue, but still), Biden is not the Covid Czar. He doesn't have the power to force us all to comply with what are, after all, perfectly reasonable public health measures.https://t.co/2BxqpuQpdI pic.twitter.com/epIm28PqT3

Yeah, I'll just leave it there. Reminds me of my daughter at age 2, screaming in fear as she was examined before the doctors recommended tubes in her ears to prevent future problems. And she wasn't being intubated so she would not die. Come at me with your stupid references to Exodus.“I sorry, Mommy. Mommy hugs, I scared. I don’t like it. Mommy!”

This 3-year-old, reacting as he was put on a ventilator, is among almost 140 Utah children under age 14 who were reported hospitalized with COVID-19 in the past two weeks.https://t.co/RXC8z
I know he’s not advocating, he’s “just saying,” but we’re all pretty casual when discussing violence aimed at the “right people.”Anyway the neighborhood is pretty peaceful but if he keeps this up he’s gonna step too close to somebody’s kid and get tuned up by a dad or Sig Sauered by a soccer mom

Or at least some judges do.I’m covering the Sarah Palin/New York Times trial set to start today in the SDNY. Judge Rakoff says he learned last night that Palin has tested positive for COVID. “She is, of course, unvaccinated,” the judge notes.
