True, but the EU might be interested.show me a single person in the world who cares about these Twitter document dumps who wasn't already doing keg stands of MAGA Kool-Aid

Of course Musk entirely eliminated the team in charge of GDPR compliance and started trying to get rank and file employees to sign off on compliance themselves. This was already a recipe for disaster.

Users are supposed to be in absolute control of PII, and the GDPR doesn't even allow you to collect it without explaining to the user what is being collected and what you're going to do with it, and explicitly recording their agreement to that usage.

I seriously think that Elon Musk has essentially made very lucrative employment for thousands of lawyers in the EU for many years.

I don’t know if the EU will “end” Twitter, but I suspect it’s going to cost Twitter a lot. Of course, it could collapse under its own weight:Yeeeep. The GDPR really is gonna end Twitter. Another GDPR issue.

Companies are often held responsible for data breaches like this under the GDPR, especially if they have reason to believe that the breach was caused by negligence or malfeasance. https://t.co/YG8NXYnL4m

I think Elmo is going to find out how the world works, too. I don’t think he’s going to like it. Coda:Years ago a guy came to a book talk I gave who was absolutely outraged when he found out that five permanent members of the UN security council could veto anything, and he asked me if our Supreme Court knew about it.

I assured him that they had been briefed. https://t.co/HAVTR1BW6P
One related thought is that Elon has a huge international following, many of whom think space and cars are cool but paid little attention to US politics -- now hearing a *lot* about US politics from a very Elon / Thiel / MAGA direction
