And for those worried about delay, the question, assuming the D.C. Circuit rules against Trump, is whether it also lifts the stay of the trial. That’s where the action will be.

The way #SCOTUS timing works, the petitioner really loses control once they file their petition. From that point on, the respondent can both file a response quickly, and then waive the waiting period for having the case go to Conference. The key is if he's forced to file quickly.

Nobody who does is surprised by this, especially since the Circuit Court accelerated their process. As the Professor says, the next question is: do they lift the stay? And if they do, do the Supremes reinstate it? Or accelerate their hearing on it?Fruit of the Corrupt Court https://t.co/s2CplQTUxU via @TPM

You have to admit that with the way the DoJ and the Courts have been handling this, it makes for a rather terrifying ride. And it's not just any Supreme Court, it's this partisan, corrupt court. One thing I've decided is that federal judges at level have been getting away with murder in terms of doing their work in a timely manner for a long time, reportedly, especially that circuit. It brings to mind the Supreme Court "justices" who pooh-poohed the idea that an innocent person shouldn't be executed on the basis of them not getting their paper work in time, for which I hope Sandra Day O'Connor is spending some serious detention time in purgatory, right now. Not to mention that Bush v Gore thing.
