I honestly thought the Administration should simply shut off power and water to the building. Then I figured they didn’t want to wait that longThey want food delivered. Apparently much has changed with protesters since the 1960s. pic.twitter.com/ErkkOVMaUr

Humanitarian crisis solved. Cheering crowds don’t exactly indicate widespread support, either.I see they’ve won everyone over to their cause https://t.co/37o2lLlLMK

That’s one question. It practically answers the other:It will be interesting to learn how many of those arrested in Hamilton Hall at Columbia are actually students.

The noise volume level is not nearly as significant as the numbers. And since when is noise an indicator of support? There was a lot of noise on J6:I increasingly believe this election will be a referendum on whether anything matters anymore. There's no rational case for Trump, but there's a loud contingent on the left that just wants to burn it down. Combine that with low information voters and Republicans circling the… https://t.co/PFtNm7tSsG

"We see this in 2022, right?" he said. "This is what this is what all the exit polling said in '22. We expected this big red wave... and then all the exit polling said, 'democracy, democracy, democracy.' Look, our hand is on the stove. Take if off!"It didn’t inspire the political activity it was meant to. No more than the anti-war protests brought an early end to Vietnam. You know what did work?
Civil disobedience, used by Dr. King and his followers, won hearts and minds. Whinging about taking over a college building and not getting any food after 12 hours? Not so much.If you choose civil disobedience that violates the law to make your point, you would certainly not be the first or last, but protesters of the past have accepted that comes with arrest & sometimes incarceration. That’s the deal. So don’t cry about it, own it. It was your choice.

They expected the school to cater their take over. Now I know why I wasn't taking their action very seriously. I suspect they learned everything they know about the 1960s from movies and TV shows. Not that I think the ones on campuses in the 60s were all that credible, either. As you said, it was the protests that got met with cattle prods, dogs, fire hoses and more brutality that produced something real. Act Up did at a later date but it was more targeted and a lot of those involved were a lot older.
