Once Upon A Time…

...my mother had four siblings living (I have an aunt and uncle extant; we all got old). Each was married (well, one divorced), all had at least two kids. When we all got together, it would be 23 people (trust me on the math).

Maybe, in a restaurant today, we’d run up a $600 bill.

But the interesting issue is: what’s more valuable to waitstaff? No tax on tips? Or a real minimum wage? It’s my understanding waitstaff make a low wage that tips are supposed to supplement. If the owner actually shares the tips fairly with the staff, that is.

How much of that $120 went to the waitstaff? And making good tax free on an income that probably barely rises above taxable levels anyway?
