"Conquer the stars" yeah, right, as if any man-made object is going to reach the nearest one before the Vances of our species have made Earth a dead planet. "Conquer the stars," what a stupid delusion that we could even "conquer" some of the minor planetoids relatively near us within the inner solar system. Sci-fi creates delusion that the space industry exploits among those in the political and military classes.
