What "meaningful percentage”? And how is it measured? By Twitter posts? Facebook engagements? Polls? The lede: “The truth is, it’s getting harder to describe the extent to which a meaningful percentage of Americans have dissociated from reality.” https://t.co/39E6DL1Upl

I’m old enough to remember when “yellow dog Democrat” was a phrase across the South. It meant absolute support for Democrats because Democrats supported racism. Period. That loyalty only ended because of LBJ. And a “meaningful percentage” of the population was against desegregation and integration when it reached their schools and communities. Were they “dissociated” from reality? Or clinging to the reality they insisted on?
A”meaningful percentage” of the world will always disagree with you. Get over it. It’s not really a measure of anything but your own interests. I may even agree with them, but that doesn’t mean they rule the world; or ever did.
“Reality” has never been a universal concept. It’s more commonly a hegemonic one. Post-modernism at least contributed that. Jesus, after all, didn’t say the basileia tou theou is imposed upon you. He told his disciples and followers to go and proclaim it. That’s kind of a never-ending task.
