“We are low-keying it,” Trump told Axios in what the outlet described as a “brief phone call” regarding the U.S. war against Iran. “We are only semi-negotiating with them. We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money.”Just stop there, because the phrase is the thing. Trump used the phrase with Tucker Carlson, back in February. You remember February. The assault on Iran began on the last day of that month. Trump was reassuring Carlson that all would be well.
It was Trump’s next remark that bore a striking similarity to his past remarks made just before the war.
“It will work out. It always works out,” Trump said.
How time flies, huh?
Now, Carlson thinks this is a sign Trump was blackmailed by Bibi into attacking Iran. Seems a bit too inventive, to me. Occam’s Razor, and all that. I remember Trump during Covid, saying (before the vaccine) that one day it would just go away. When it didn’t, he decided it could be treated with bleach, ingested or injected was not specified, or with black light; methods of insertion again unspecified.“He said to me, 'everything's gonna be okay' because I was getting overwrought [and told him] 'don't do this.' He said, 'it's gonna be alright,' and he said, 'do you know how I know that?' And I said, 'no.' He said, 'because it always is,’” Carlson told the Times’ Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
He might as well have said it was going to be alright, because it always is. It seems to be his coping mechanism. I wonder how many times he’s used it when his plans turned to shit and he ran out of people to blame.
It’s a cult.NEWSNATION: Here's the record -- inflation 3.5%, higher than earnings, gas is $4 a gallon, electricity prices continue to go up, and GDP is at 1.5%. Why do Republicans deserve to keep power?

A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury…Trump: There was substantial other damage to the Reflecting Pool, also but, unfortunately, there is no video or proof, other than the damage, itself. https://t.co/IkUxQcrMS5 pic.twitter.com/cK0EkrHU2T

Trump also thinks the statement of the DPS employee is “proof.” Except that statement was what Pirro used to get an indictment, an indictment she couldn’t support in court once the pool was drained. (FoxNews psychosis: the inability to consider that the opposition gets to have their say. And in a criminal case, that means the defendant gets to examine the evidence. That’s exactly the point where the case turned into a dismissal.) The “proof” was not substantiated by the condition of the drained pool.
…signifying nothing.*
I’m sure it’s going to be alright; because it always is.
*Pirro went to Trump with a box full of evidence establishing that no criminal case could be made against any individual. Trump here even agrees the installation was bad. But he can’t let go of it. He learned all the wrong lessons from Cohn. That’s finally catching up to him.
