A Clockwork Orange

Alito: "We have lots of phrases that involve two words, the second of which is 'day.' Labor Day, Memorial Day, George Washington's birthday, Independence Day, birthday, and Election Day. They are all particular days. So if we start with that, if I have nothing more to look at than the phrase 'Election Day,' I think this is the day in which everything is going to take place."
COLLINS: Who's idea was it to put ICE in airports?

TRUMP: Mine. That was like the paperclip. Do you know the story of the paperclip? 182 years ago a man discovered the paperclip. It was so simple. And everybody that looked it thought, 'Why didn't I think of that?' ICE was my idea.
The entire U.S. military leadership is that stupid?

The argument for age limits on public office just grow stronger.

Yeah, well, Independence Day fireworks start going off around here weeks before July 4th, so...

  2. Apparently just-ass Alito has never seen the week-long Labor Day and Memorial Day sales. I assume that the concept of placing a holiday on a Monday to ensure a three-day weekend regardless of date is also foreign to him.

Tell me again, what is the benefit of an Ivy League education?

  3. Reading elsewhere, Kagan made a comment that if they accept the argument to ban late ballots, it also makes early voting and absentee voting illegal. The same article said Roberts seemed in favor of the argument and outcome. Voting would require being in person, on one day, during the opening hours of the polls. Such an outcome disenfranchises the sick and elderly, college students, those with jobs that can't take time off to vote (i.e., lower paid workers), any job that has reasonable travel. They really do hate democracy.
