The Briar Patch

I mentioned the BBC lawsuit, and this popped up:

“The Court has admonished Plaintiff for his lack of participation to no avail. Going forward, the Court expects strict compliance with its … Order, the failure of which will lead to sanctions,” Lett wrote.

Lett had warned Trump in June, after he failed to give the BBC his side of a joint motion, writing that lawyers “are not permitted to disregard the Court’s orders and procedures” and that failing to respond “may result in sanctions including granting the relief by default,” meaning she could rule for the BBC without hearing from Trump.
The short version is, Trump sued the BBC, and has since refused any and all discovery requests. He even dropped his claim that his businesses had been damaged, to avoid discovery of his business records (to prove any damages). Now he’s refusing to give a deposition until sometime next year; and the court is threatening sanctions that could include dismissal of the case.

A consummation Trump now devoutly wishes, so he can blame someone else for this stupid venture and its squalid failure. If he tried to drop it, the court might demand a hearing. If the court dismisses, Trump can whine and walk away, whining.

It’s what he does best.
