I study election rigging. I co-authored a book called How to Rig an Election. These tweets are lies. The purpose of these tweets is to lay the groundwork to reject or dispute election results if he loses. https://t.co/HrmXAY02yf— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) May 26, 2020
Trump isn't playing five-dimensional chess here. He's not even playing checkers. He has no strategy, he's just denying reality because the pain of reality is too much for him. Pay attention to how few people are cowed by his remarks anymore.
Oregon has been voting *entirely* by mail since 1998. Gov. Kate Brown said it makes her blood boil to hear Trump’s fearmongering about fraud as it is “virtually nonexistent.”— Jennifer Bendery (@jbendery) May 26, 2020
“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about." https://t.co/7EXCZdK0ND https://t.co/LjLHwpwXCM
Even if he does want to contest the election, he'd have no idea how to do it. Who would he put in charge of that project? Jared? Ivanka? Don, Jr.? "I co-authored a book called How to Rig an Election." A book you know Donald Trump has never read, and wouldn't understand if he did. This man can't organize a two-car funeral, he can't begin to get the machinery of government to respond to a pandemic, he can't manage anything more complicated than a three-tweet twitter broadside, and he's going to suddenly find the administrative skills to challenge an election outcome?
It is to laugh.
The purpose of these tweets is to allow Trump to function. Period. End of discussion. It's the same reason he keeps slandering Joe Scarbrough (which are too disgusting to re-post. If Twitter has any policy on removing tweets, those should be removed). Don't forget Trump tweeted this yesterday:
Great reviews on our handling of Covid 19, sometimes referred to as the China Virus. Ventilators, Testing, Medical Supply Distribution, we made a lot of Governors look very good - And got no credit for so doing. Most importantly, we helped a lot of great people!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 25, 2020
Everybody praises Trump, but nobody gives him credit? The first half is pure fantasy, ego assuaging fiction, the second half is how unfairly he is treated, how he always needs an enemy to fight. The statements contradict each other, but that doesn't matter to Trump (it should scare the bejeesus out of the U.S. Senate, but that's another matter). There's no strategy there. That's pure madness. That's a man with no grip on reality at all. And today he shifts to his other favorite fantasy:
Stock Market up BIG, DOW crosses 25,000. S&P 500 over 3000. States should open up ASAP. The Transition to Greatness has started, ahead of schedule. There will be ups and downs, but next year will be one of the best ever!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 26, 2020
States like Texas will find they've reopened just in time for the second wave, which is expected to hit, oh, about Father's Day.
Have a nice summer.
