Super excited to hear the conservative defense of trump shutting down Twitter— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) May 28, 2020
In a truly Orwellian new executive order, @realdonaldtrump defines gov’t regulation of Americans’ speech as “free speech” and private questioning of government authority as “censorship” https://t.co/eUN8nYqjBl— Elizabeth Nolan Brown (@ENBrown) May 28, 2020
Nothing says I love the Constitution like wishing the government could shut down a business. What’s next? Newspapers? The press?— Colt Sebastian Taylor (@ColtSTaylor) May 28, 2020
Party of liberty indeed. @GOP is a dumpster fire of hypocrisy and sycophants. https://t.co/KVI5YI5pHr pic.twitter.com/jgQrEtnDhG
Yeah, but he's got the Presidential seal! And the Presidential podium!President Trump's social media executive order is at odds with congressional intent, a quarter century of judicial interpretation, and any reasonable reading of the Section 230's plain language, says #CatoTechnology's @Will_Duffield https://t.co/gV3REFBOUx pic.twitter.com/2poaPP7peX— Cato Institute (@CatoInstitute) May 28, 2020

Nothing to see here....
The White House doesn't seem to realize that if they succeeded - if Twitter was actually liable for the speech of its users (if 230 was repealed) - they'd be forced to take down the many defamatory posts of Donald Trump -- Section 230 is actually his best friend.— Tim Wu (@superwuster) May 28, 2020
That's still the best part. And explains why Barr was standing there for the signing, and slamming social media companies with Trumpisms. Barr knows this is to keep the boss happy (the rubber ball and blunt scissors aren't doing it) and no harm will come of it because it's a squib that will never fire. And the boss will move on to something else now.

For the record, I think Popehat and Winklevoss are saying the same thing. I appreciate really good snark when I see it.
